Local renovation case study

From limited online visibility to page-one rankings and genuine enquiries.

Over twelve months, I helped a local renovation business strengthen its website, improve important service pages and build a practical local SEO and content strategy. The work increased search visibility, brought more relevant visitors to the website and helped turn that traffic into genuine customer enquiries.

The standout result was reaching the #2 organic Google position for a commercially valuable local renovation search used by customers actively looking for the service.

What the work included

  • Reworking important service pages
  • Creating service-led and location-led content
  • Improving on-page SEO
  • Strengthening calls to action and trust signals
  • Tracking search performance and enquiries

Figures are drawn from website analytics, Google Search Console, directly tracked website enquiries and client-reported activity. Rankings vary by location, device and time. Results reflect this client’s starting point, market and programme; they are evidence of the work, not a guarantee that every business will follow the same path. Marketing is work, not witchcraft.

About Brandhammer

Over 10 years of practical marketing experience.

I’m Tom, a Plymouth-based marketing professional with over 10 years of experience across social media, design, content, digital campaigns and search marketing. Through Brandhammer, I work directly with a limited number of independent businesses that need experienced support without employing a full-time marketer or paying a traditional agency retainer.

I start by understanding what is already working, where customers are getting lost and which improvements are realistically worth your time and budget. From there, I produce the agreed work directly, without account managers, unnecessary layers or services you do not need.

Common questions

Reasonable things to ask before spending money.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. One-off work is agreed as a project. Monthly packages run on a rolling basis and can be cancelled before the next monthly payment is due. Work already completed or scheduled for the current month remains chargeable.

Can you guarantee Google rankings or viral posts?

No. I can improve the strategy, content, consistency and foundations that make stronger results more likely, but no honest marketer can guarantee a particular ranking or viral result.

Can you provide photography or video?

Yes. Photography and short-form videography can be arranged for social media, websites, products and individual campaigns. This is quoted separately based on the work and location involved.

Is photography included in the monthly packages?

Not as standard. Clients usually supply their existing images and business updates, but original photography or video can be added when required.

Do you reply to comments and messages?

Inbox management and comment replies are not included as standard but can be agreed separately for businesses that need ongoing community support.

What will you need from me?

Usually access to the relevant accounts, accurate business information, suitable photos or updates, and reasonably prompt approvals. The exact requirements are confirmed before work starts.

Do you work with businesses outside Plymouth?

Yes. Most marketing work can be completed remotely, although businesses in Plymouth and the surrounding area may also benefit from local photography, video and in-person support.

Do you need access to my accounts?

For ongoing social media, Google Business Profile or reporting work, I will need appropriate account access. You retain ownership of your accounts, and access can be removed when the work ends.

Is advertising spend included?

No. Package prices cover the agreed planning, content and creative work. Any Meta or Google advertising budget is paid separately.

How quickly can we start?

Start dates depend on current workload and the information needed from you. I will confirm availability before any payment is taken.
